Under the general supervision of the Supervising Correctional Cook (SCC), the Correctional Supervising Cook (CSC) is responsible for the supervision of incarcerated workers in the preparation of the planned menu and the distribution of food. The Correctional Supervising Cook ensure that all items needed for meals are present, and in proper amount, and supervise the preparation of meals ensuring that all foods meet standards for quality and wholesomeness. Supervise and instruct incarcerated persons in all phases of cooking, proper use and handling of utensils, foods, and equipment, adhere to the standards of sanitation. Adhere to rules and regulations set forth in the institutional procedures, Department Operations Manual and Food Services policies and procedures.
Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or may become permanent.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
